YCS Miami Top 32 deck breakdown

February 19, 2013 Leave a comment

Since the entirety of the day 2 coverage was uploaded about 12 hours after the event finished, I had to wait before I could even attempt to do this. Fortunately, Konami told us what the top 32 were playing as soon as the coverage was updates so all I had to do this time was make a graph.

Yugioh! World Championship Finals – Stefan Memoli (Inzektor) Vs Akikazu Saito (Inzektor)

August 12, 2012 2 comments

Game 1

Saito opens with allure. He banishes inzektor centipede. He sets 1 card and passes his turn.

Memoli plays duality, hitting storm, veiler and TT. He adds storm to his hand. He summons centipede, equipping ladybug. He uses ladybugs effect and sdearches his deck for a dragonfly. He passes.

Saito summons card trooper, and mills gigamantis, warning and mind control. He flips sangan, and attacks into centipede. Memoli chains veiler on card trooper. Sangan is destroyed, and Saito searches his deck for  an effect veiler. He sets 1 card and passes.

Memoli uses centipede’s effect, grabbing ladybug and searching his deck for Dragonfly with centipede’s effect. He uses MST on Sautos face down call of the haunted, which is chained on Sangan. Call is destroyed, and Saito searches his deck for effect veiler. Memoli summons dragonfly, and Saito uses effect veiler. Centipede attacks card trooper, and Saito draws for its effect. Dragonfly also attacks directly.

Saito draws, and summons inzektor centipede. He uses its effect, equipping gigamantis. He uses MST on his own gigamantis, in order to search his deck with Centipede’s effect. HE adds a hornet to his hand. He banishes Gigamantis and effect veiler to summon BLS! BLS attacks Centipede, and then with Dragonfly with BLS’ effect ,followed by a direct attack from inzektor centipede. He finished his turn by setting 1 card to his backrow.

Memoli draws for his turn, and then sets 1 monster, followed by 1 card to his backrow. He then passes.

Saito activates call of the haunted, targeting Sangan. He then uses heavy storm, destroying call of the haunted. Sangan’s effect searches for an effect veiler. HE eequips centipede with hornet, and MEmoli responds with effect veiler. Saito summons inzektor hornet, and equips inzektor hornet with the other hornet. He then uses its effect to destroy Memoli’s face down Card Trooper, and a final attack from BLS wins the game!

Game 2

(During Commentary, Kevin Tewart points out that Rai-Oh is effective against all decks lol)

Memoli opens with 3 cards to his backrow, and he passes.

Saito opens with one set monster, and 3 cards to his backrow. He then passes.

Memoli passes.

Saito passes as well.

Memoli summons card trooper, and Saito responds with Solemn Warning.  Memoli then passes.

Saito draws, and sets 1 card to his backrow before passing.

Memoli plays Mind Control, and Saito passes over his set dragonfly! He flips it face up, and uses its effect to equip hornet from his hand. Saito chains Really Eternal Rest, which destroys all equipped monsters on the field. He passes.

Saito summons his own dragonfly, and Memoli uses his own Solemn Warning. Saito uses monster reborn, and brings back his inzektor dragonfly in defence position. Memoli responds with TT, before Saito passes.

Memoli sets 1 backrow and passes.

Saito also sets 1 and passes.

Memoli passes.

Saito sets 1 card to his backrow and passes.

Memoli activates Heavy Storm! Saito chains transmigration prophecty, and memoli responds with solemn warning! He summons Inzektor centipede, and equips ladybug. He attacks directly, and then uses ladybugs effect, making centipede level 4 and searching for a dragonfly. He then passes.

Saito simply sets 1 monster and passes.

Memoli uses centipede’s effect and equips inzektor hornet, destroying Sos face down ladybug. He searches for gigamantis with centipede, and summons dragonfly, but Saito uses effect veiler on it. He equips dragonfly with gigamantis, and proceeds to attack for game!

It’s coming down to the final duel!

Game 3

Saito starts things off with inzektor centipede, equipped with hornet. HE also equips centipede with gigamantis, but Memoli responds with effect veiler! Saito sets a card to his backrow and passes.

Memoli plays MST, hitting Saitos face down  MST. Saito chains his own MST, targeting his gigamantis. He searches his deck for an inzektor hornet with centipede’s effect.  (Memoli appears to be checking something with the judges). He summons inzektor dragonfly, equipping ladybug. (More talking ensues). Ladybug’s effect activates, making dragonfly level 5 and summining centipede. Saito plays DD crow! He banishes the ladybug, so centipede can’t use it. (It appears Saito is explaining something to Memoli, I think it’s the fact that once you declare an inzektor effect, you have to select another legal target, and so Memoli would have to reveal his hand to either equip another, or prove he doesn’t have one. Play continues though, so I guess not)  He suicides the centipedes, and attacks hornet  with dragonfly.

Saito summons hornet, and equips Gigamantis. He attacks Memoli’s dragonfly and passes.

Memoli sets 1 card to his backrow and passes.

Saito equips hornet to hornet, and Memoli chains dust tornado targeting hornet. Saito summons inzektor dragonfly, equipping hornet which destroys gigamantis. Gigamantis’ effect gets centipede, and dragonfly’s effect gets another centipede. He XYZ summons Leviair using hornet and dragonfly, and uses its effect to special summon inzektor ladybug. Ladybug equips hornet, and a second hornet is equipped to one of Saito’s centipedes. He declaires an attack, and Memoli concedes!

Akikazu Saito is our 2012 world champion!

Yu Hao Liou is the Dragon Duel world championship of 2012 with Dino Rabbit!

August 12, 2012 Leave a comment

In an incredibly short 3 round duel,Yu Hao Liou wins 2-1 against Inzektor in the finals. (I forgot the other kid’s name, sorry)

I wasn’t able to type fast enough to do coverage for this game, but i’ll sum it up:

Game 1

Liou summons Laggia and sets 4 cards in his first turn. His opponent plays 2 MST, then heavy storm, which gets negated by Starlight road. He then summons Hornet, and when Laggia negates that, he just scoops.

Game 2

Liou opens with Prohibition, targeting dragonfly. He sets another card and ends. His opponent procedes to use centipede and hornet to pop all Lious cards and Liou scoops.

Game 3

Liou opens Laggia and 3 backrow and 2 turns of beatdown later he wins.

So it was incredibly fast and boring, and unfortunately we didnt see any special tech that made Dino Rabbit so playable in worlds format. But there ya go.
