Yugioh! World Championship Quarter Finals – Jarel Winston (Exodia) Vs Akikazu saito (Inzektor)

 Game 1

Jarel opens with upstart goblin. He next plays pot of duality, revealing waboku, threatening roar, and another pot of duality. He grabs the pot of duality, putting waboku and threatening back to his deck. He sets 2 cards to his backrow and passes. Saito summons sangan, and attacks for 1000 damage. He passes after setting 2.

Winston      plays pot of duality, revealing 2 hope for escapes, and threatening roar. He adds a hope for escape. He sets 3 cards to his backrow and ends. Saito plays allure of darkness, and banishes Gorz. He summons effect veiler, and synchro summons armory arm. He searches inzektor hornet from his deck. He sets 1 card to his backrow and ends.

Winston flips reckless greed, and chains hope for escape, followed by gift card, and then accumulated fortune! Winston draws 7 cards total!

He follows with one day of peace, sets 4 more cards to his backrow, and ends his turn. On Saito’s standby phase, Winston activates Gift Card, putting saito on 15000. He then plays another hope for escape! Making a 10,000 lifepoint difference! Winston draws a massive 5 cards from hope for escape.  He then plays a reckless greed, and draws 2 more cards!

Saito summons inzektor centipede, and windston responds with another hope for escape! He draws another 5 cards. Saito equips hornet to centipede, and Winston chains waboku, so that there’s no cards for hornet to destroy.

Saito passes back to Winston, who plays one day of peace, followed by upstart goblin. He plays the final one day of peace, followed by ANOTHER upstart goblin! He summons Sangan, and Saito chains solemn judgment! He sets more backrow, leaving 5 c ards at the back. He discards 5 cards in his end phase, and ends.

Winston chains jart of greed to Saito’s draw phase, and shows Exodia!

Game 2

Saito plays duality, revealing Ryko, foolish burial, and MST. He ads ryko to his hand. He sets 2 cards to his backrow, and sets a monster.

Winston sets 5 cards, and in his end phase saito flips royal decree!

Saito draws, and Winston activates Twister, targeting Saito’s royal decree. Saito flips Ryko, targeting Winston’s reckless greed, which he chains. Saito chains royal decree, and winston’s waboku and then accumulated fortune are also chained! Saito summons card trooper, and uses his effect. He then passes. Winston activates upstart goblin, sets 3 cards to his backrow, and passes. Saito uses trooper’s effect again, then summons inzektor centipede, Winston Chains MST, hitting the royal decree. His hope for escape is then activated, followed by a threatening roar.

Saito uses hornets effect to destroy his ryko, adding dragonfly to hand. He activates allure of darkness, banishing a hornet.

Winston uses one day of peace, sets 1 card to his backrow, and ends.

Saito activates centipede’s effect, and Winston chains jar of greed. Saito summons inzektor dragonfly, and equips it with gigamantis. He uses Hornets effect to destroy gigamantis, and special summons another dragonfly from his grave with mantis’ effect. He adds a ladybug to hand with centipedes effect. He uses his last centipede’s effect to destroy card t roper with hornet , and adds a final dragonfly to his hand, and then draws from card trooper. He passes.

Winston draws for his turn, and then activates heavy storm! Saito chains solemn judgment, which will hurt Winston’s strategy to use Hope For Escape. He dualitie’s MST, accumulated fortune and legfacy for yata garasu. He adds yata garasu to hand before setting 1 card and passing back to Saito.

Saito uses its effect to equip gigamantis, and Winston chains legacy. He t hen uses his other dragonfly’s effect on ladubug, to special summon another inzektor centipede. Centipede’s effect is used on ladybug, to increase that centipede’s level by 2 aswell. Both are XYZ summoned for Tiras, and Saito attacks with dragonfly. Tiras attacks, and Winston chains swift scarecrow! Saito brings back card trooper with call of the haunted, and then uses a centipede’s effect to destoy it with hornet. He then  overlays 2 centipedes to XYZ summon wind-up Zenmaines, and flip summons his own solemn warning! SAaito is playing a clever game, by lowering his own lifepoints to stop Winston using hope for escape. He sets 2 and passes.

Winston sets 2 cards of his own and passes back. He uses dragonfly’s effect to equip with hornet, and Winston chains yata garasu, and then twister, targeting yata. Saito attacks with Tiras, and Winston uses a second swift scarecrow.  Saito passes, and Winston also passes again.

Saito attacks with tiras once more, and Winston concedes! He reveals 3 exodia pieces and a hope for escape in his hand.

Game 3

Winston opens with upstart goblin, and sets 1 card to his backrow before passing.

Saito opens with pot of duality, revealing gigamantis, warning and hornet. He adds warning to his hand. He sets 3 and passes.

Winston sets another card to his backrow and also passes.

Saito plays foolish burial, sending dragonfly to his graveyard. He activates call of the haunted, and equips dragonfly with ladybug. He uses ladybugs effect to increase dragonfly’s level and special summons a centipede. Centipede uses ladybug, adding a second dragonfly to hand. He normal summons dragonfly, using ladybug again to bring out another centipede. The new centipede uses ladybug, and adds a gigamantis to his hand. He equips both dragonflies with gigamantises. He attacks, and Winston chains legacy of yata garasu. Saito attacks with more monsters, and Winston drops a swift scarecrow, he’s now on 2400 lifepoints to Saito’s 9000. Saito XYZs with his centipedes into Tiras, and then solemn warnings his own xyz again.

Winston sets to 5 backrow cards, and passes.

Saito attacks, and Winston chains waboku. He uses ladybugs effect on dragonfly, to bring out another centipede. Winston chains twister on call of the haunted, destroying Saito’s dragonfly! He then uses hope for escape, and saito uses solemn judgment! Sauto uses ladybug on the new centipede, adding a hornet to his hand. Saito equips hornet, and Winston chains 2 reckless greeds, giving Saito no targets for hornet. Saito spends a lot of time thinking, but eventually uses hornet to pop gigamantis, and special summon a hornet from his graveyard, and a ladybug from deck. However, after doing so Saito apparently ends up having to slow down and explain all his plays, as he was playing too fast and Winston seems to have some issues. (It appears to be an issue with the chain links when inzektors get their effects, Saito has to take back his play and play it slower, just to confirm what was done. After more delays, the head judge has been called over to confirm the sitiation) The duel starts again with Saito’s field of centipede, dragonfly, centipede, and a hornet equipped with giga, and a ladybug equipped with giga.

The duel continues with Winstons turn, and he plays upstart goblin, followed by a pot of duality which reveals garasu, MST and accumulated fortune. He adds garasu, and plays one day of peace. Finally setting 3 cards, he passes.

Saito draws and plays duality, revealing 2 decree and a hornet. He adds a decree. He sets one card, and passes.

Winston sets 1 card, and Saito activates decree. Winston chains twister, targeting decree, following by a jar of greed. He sets one more card, and passes back to Saito. Saito turns a centipede, dragonfly, and a hornet to defence, and before he can attack Winston uses threatening roar. He tribute summons a set card, and passes.

Winston uses one day of peace, and passes.

Saito turns ladybug to defence, and passes once more.

Winston sets 1 card to his backrow and passes.

Saito flip summons Gorz, and uses solemn warning on his gorz.  Next, he turns hornet and ladybug to attack, and Jarel uses threatening roar. Saito dualities into MST, transmigration prophecy, and monster reborn. He adds an MST and sets 1 card to his backrow before passing.

Jarel sets one card, and in his end phase saito chains MST, hitting the MST Winston set.

Saito draws, and attacks with hornet. Winston concedes! With only 400LP left and no defence.

Yugioh! World Championship Round 3 – Takeru Norihama (Inzektors) Vs Jonathan Ritzau (Inzektors)

Game 1 – Norihama opens with inzektor centipede, equipping hornet. He sets a card to his backrow and ends.

Ritzau plays MST, targeting Norihama’s face down solemn warning. He summons hornet, equipping hornet, but Norihama responds with effect veiler.  He uses pot of duality, revealing veiler, heavy storm, and another hornet. He adds effect veiler to his hand. He sets one card to his backrow and ends.

There appeas to be some slight confusion, but eventually norihama  uses hornet to hit ritzau’s torrential tribute. He summons inzektor dragonfly, and equips with hornet. Hornet destroys Rutzau’s hornet, and centipede is special summoned. Norihama equips ladybug to centipede, and attacks directly with all 3 of his monsters, dropping Ritzau to 3300 LP. He uses ladybug’s effect to increase centipede’s level, and grabs another dragonfly from his deck and passes.

Ritzau drops DAD! Effect veiler stops his effect, and Ritzau concedes! On to game 2!

Game 2-  Ritzau opens with pot of duality, showing heavy storm, judgment and card trooper. He adds XXX to his hand. He sets 1 monster and passes.

Norihama uses his own duality, revealing TT, centipede, and another card. He adds centipede, and summons it, equipping hornet. Ritzau veilers, and Norihama passes.

Ritzau activates MST, hitting Norihama’s Torrential Tribute. Ritzau summons Dragonfly, equipping hornet. But Norihama has his own effect veiler! Ritzau checks Norihama’s graveyard, before flipping his Sangan, and summoning Leviathan Dragon. He uses its effect, detatching sangan, and attacks over centipede. He then  passes.

Norihama activates monster reborn! He special summons inzektor centipede. Centipede’s effect grabs hornet, and hornet destroys leviathan dragon. Norihama adds dragonfly from his deck to his hand, and then summons it. He attaches ladybug to dragonfly and then centipede, making them both level 5. Dragonfly’s effect gets another centipede, and that newly summoned c entipede also uses ladybug’s effect.  Next, he adds gigamantis to his hand from centipede’s effect. Norihama then XYZ summons crimson armor ninja using his 2 centipedes, and special summons dark armed dragon! He equips dragonfly with gigamantis, and DAD’s effect destroys gigamantis, bringing out a second centipede. Seeing the storm infront of him, Ritzau concedes!

Norihama wins 2-0!

Yugioh! World Championship Round 1 Feature Match – Stefan Memoli Vs Michail Paraschos

Round 1 feature match – Stefan Memoli  (inzektor) Vs Michail Paraschos (Darkworlds)

I’ve only noted down the main plays/important moments, just for convenience.

Game 1 –  Memoli plays an early heavy storm Vs Michail’s skill drain, and 2 backrow. Memoli had a hornet and ladybug in graveyard, Michail with just a Snoww on field.  Paraschos simply scoops for game 2.

Game 2 – Memoli’s first turn heavy storm gets stopped by Michail’s dark bribe. Next tun, Michail’s Darkworld dealings pitches his Grapha, destroying memolis backrow dimensional prison with its effect. Memoli discards centipede.

Next turn, Memoli flips ryko, milling duality, and 2 other cards (unable to see).   destroying shadow imprisoning mirror. Memoli activates dimensional fissure, and heavy storm on michail’s set Torrential Tribute. In Main Phase 2, Memoli uses monster reborn on Michail’s grapha.

Memoli attacks michail with grapha, dropping michail to 5100. Memoli uses MST on michails set dark world dealings, and a second MST on a reckless greed, which michail chains. Memoli summons inzektor centipede, and flips call of the haunted, targeting the other centipede in his graveyard . Michail scoops.

Memoli wins the match 2-0!
